Pregnancy + Perinatal Psychotherapy
Therapy for Pregnancy Support
Across New York State
You might have expected joy, but instead feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally off.
Maybe you’re exhausted, nauseous, or dealing with hormonal shifts that make it hard to recognize yourself. Maybe this pregnancy followed a loss or fertility challenges, and you’re caught between hope and fear. Or maybe everything looks fine on paper, but emotionally, you’re not okay.
Whether you're newly pregnant, navigating complications, or preparing for birth, you don’t have to go through this alone.
Women Come To Us When They’re:
Feeling anxious, down, or “off”
Disconnected from pregnancy
Pregnant after a loss
Struggling with relationships
Overwhelmed
Facing medical stress
Unsure how to talk about it
Our Pregnancy Therapy Meets You Where You Are
Pregnancy can bring complex emotions, even when it’s planned and deeply wanted.
Pregnancy can bring up complicated emotions, even when it’s planned, wanted, and long-awaited. You don’t have to pretend everything’s fine. You don’t have to compare your experience to anyone else’s.
We help you explore your fears, identity shifts, and the grief that sometimes coexists with excitement.
Questions We’ll Explore in Therapy
Why do I feel so disconnected? Sometimes it’s hard to feel how you expected. We’ll explore what’s happening underneath and help you reconnect.
Is this anxiety normal? If your mind is racing or you feel stuck in worry, we’ll help you calm your nervous system and regain emotional footing.
Can I talk about my fear of giving birth? Yes. This is a space to say anything out loud, even the scary stuff, and get tools to cope with the uncertainty ahead.
Our Approach to Perinatal Psychotherapy
At Altman Therapy, we use a thoughtful, integrative approach to support your mental health during pregnancy. Our therapists are trained in perinatal mental health and collaborate with OB-GYNs and perinatal psychiatrists when needed.
